Hi!  I’m Andy!  I live in the Dallas, Texas area with my wife and high school aged daughter. I enjoying cooking, running, biking, traveling and most things outdoors!  Even though I have worked in the restaurant business for over 20 years now, I would consider myself, at best, an intermediate level cook – which means I can follow a recipe, set timers, read thermometers and understand enough to improvise a bit along the way. If you can do that, you will be able to make anything I post about.

In my profile picture above (and yes, I am having a “good beard day” – LOL), you can see me standing in front of HMart.  They are a local Asian supermarket that is phenomenal.  I am lucky to have such a resource near me.  If you don’t, Amazon has nearly everything you could need for the recipes I am making.  Some of the items that it might be worth taking the time to locate before you need them are things like sushi grade tuna and other seafood and produce items.  If there is a substitute for an item then I will notate that in the recipe notes.

While we are on the subject of Amazon and in the spirit of full disclosure, I am an Amazon associate and clicking through the links on this site to Amazon will result in a small percentage being paid to me as commission.  This will help fund website hosting and some of the other expenses associated with this project.  Trust me, I am not getting rich from this!  I wish it were that easy!

Anyway, step forward with me and try something new.  We are going to take a little culinary journey to the “Land of the Rising Sun” and let’s Explore Japanese Cooking!
